Welcome to the CFP^® Examination Practice Exam site. The Practice Exam adopts the same structure as the CFP exam (i.e. composed of a combination of multiple-choice and constructed-response questions), matching the CFP examination blueprint parameters. The CFP Exam blueprint can be viewed here.

On exam day, candidates have six hours to complete the CFP examination and the examination is offered in three two-hour sessions with 30-minute breaks between sessions at in-person test centres and 15-minute breaks between sessions with online proctoring.

The Practice exam can be completed within a maximum of 9 hours. If you need to leave the Practice Exam at any time without finishing, simply close your browser and log back in when ready to continue. However, please note, once you click “finish” you will be unable to re-take the Practice Exam and you will only have access to the self-scoring component (if not already scored) and then the performance diagnostic feedback and detailed performance on questions. These will be available to you until examination day.

Upon submission of the completed Practice Exam, you will have the opportunity to self-score the constructed response answers against the answer key and the sample responses provided. The self-scoring process will help you better understand how the exam is scored and where marks are allocated. Once the scoring is completed, you will have access to a diagnostic report for the purpose of providing feedback on responses based on the FP Canada Standards Council™ Competency Profile for CFP Certification and rationales for correct and incorrect responses. The diagnostic report can only be used for the purposes of a preparation aid to writing the CFP examination. A pass/fail mark will not be provided. The results from the Practice Exam do not provide a prediction or indication of future success on the CFP examination.

You may perceive that the level of difficulty of the actual exam varies from the Practice Exam. There are numerous variables impacting perception on difficulty, including the fact that you have more time to write the Practice Exam (9 hours compared to 6 hours for the CFP examination), you have access to study materials while you write it, and the results have no consequences.

Please note, all scores and answers will remain confidential but aggregate results may be used for FP Canada research purposes.
